Re: 12 inch electric fan
Sorry, but not really. I had a 16" that would keep my stock 350 around 180 as long as I was moving. But in traffic, it would climb to 220 quickly.
Maybe if it was mounted to a reply good shroud, but I really doubt it.

Re: 12 inch electric fan
I would use two 12" fans mounted onto a shroud that covers the whole radiator. Depending on the particular fan, you may have to stagger them for them to fit the width of the radiator.

Re: 12 inch electric fan
I used a twin-fan with built-in shroud setup from a 2006 Saturn Vue. It's been in there for a few months now but with only one fan hooked up. It's been enough to cool my 350 crate motor even during Texas summer.
See my thread for details. |

Re: 12 inch electric fan
electric fans are really poor options for trucks and offroad vehicles. I've seen just as many people who have switched to electric fans switch back to mechanical. A good mechanical fan works, period. A good electric fan works sometimes.... you are just swapping mechanical drain on your engine to electrical drain.
I'm sure plenty of people have them working "fine", but from what I have seen, even with what should be higher-than-required CFM ratings, forget about towing, forget about offroading, forget about bumper-to-bumper traffic. If you are cruising free and clear, no problem. I'm glad to hear craig is happy with his. That is probably a lot better setup than a lot of the aftermarket fan options.
