Windshield seal

I bought a 69 C/10 that is a bit of a mutt and has a door, door panels, rear axels and differential from a 72. To be honest at this point even though the vin # on the plate inside the drivers door on the cab matches the 1969 stamped number on the frame under the hood I'm not convinced that the cab is from the 69. Is there a way to physically tell cabs apart from the 69-70 years to the 71-72 years The reason I'm asking is I need to change out the windshield seal and the parts apparently are different according to Steele rubbers web site. One part is for 67-70 and the other part for 71-72. I need to figure out which seal I need to buy. I'm suspicious because the seal on it now fits terribly on the inside of the cab but looks ok on the outside.

Re: Windshield seal

The 67/68 wont have provisions for the foot pedal style ebrake. Late 71-72 will have a vent in the door jamb. There are several other differences but nothing major. Only difference I know for the seal is the base seal with no trim and the upper level seal with trim. There are plenty of threads on the forum pointing out cab differences.

It has a foot pedal brake. I'm not sure about the vent in the door jam I'll have to look. I'm going to see if the windshield glass is different between the years. I have the cst trim package so I need the seal that accomidates the stainless trim. Thanks for your help.

Re: Windshield seal

I looked it up on LMC's website. It looks like the difference is on the trim. Probably wider vs. narrow. Just make sure you get the matching trim with the seal.

I'd like to use the trim I have if I can. I'll call LMC and see if they know the correct trim width for the different years....thanks again.

Re: Windshield seal

71 cab will have raised triangle shaped pad where inside rear view mirror attaches to, 72 had this mirror mounted on windshield itself so no holes in between visors. If no raised pad or mirror isnt screwed between visors (and no holes) the cab should be 69-70 if it has a foot operated ebrake.

There's no triangular pad. Was the 69-70 mirror attached to the windshield or to the cab? I thought that 69-70 models were screwed into the roof. My mirror is attached to the windshield and the tab on the bottom of the mirror has DAY and NITE stamped in it. The inside of the cab has been painted so Im not sure which mirror configuration it had originally or if the mirror now in it is even the correct one.
