Where and how to find parts?

I just bought a 1947 Loadmaster Chevy truck. It's belived to a 5 ton but I think it's actually a 3 ton because of the weight rating. I can only get so much information from the vin plate because it has been painted over and scraped up by a previous owner, so I won't know until the title gets sorted out or I find a place to run the vin.

Where would I find wheel cylinders or rebuild kits and those other complex components for a truck of that weight class? I don't want to stray to far from factory original but I also don't want to take it in a direction that's going to make it impossible for me to finish.

It runs and seems like it drives but without brakes and a decent sized area to take it for a spin that could be another story. Any helpful hints or knowledge about these truck would be appreciated because I never had a project this old or big.

Thanks.
