which is better rear static drop?
I am building a truck which the 6 inch rear static drop that has a four inch spring and two inch block. It has been C notched. My brother said that is not a good set up. He said a six inch spring, is better, as it gives a softer ride. Is that true? What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a six inch spring, like the ones Hotchkis makes, over my set up?

i have been researching that exact thing on this forum, and from what i have read the 4" springs and blocks will give a better ride than a 6" spring. the 4" spring has more travel, so it makes sense it should be softer (opposite of what your brother said). the other disadvantage of the 6" spring is the additional angle of the shocks, which requires a relocation kit otherwise you will have issues and poor ride quality.

Only problem with the four inch springs and two inch blocks is that the shock relocaters hang a little below the scrub line if you are running 15 inch wheels.

I forgot to mention, I do have shock relocater kit on it and intend to put a 20 inch wheels with 45 series tires.

Your fine. I have 5 inch drop springs, 2 inch blocks and relocated the shocks. I don't have a c-notch and it rides fine. It doesn't bottom out enough to care about putting in a c-notch.

The helper air bags work wonders on a static drop truck. I drive mine and I wouldn't do them without the helper bags. I have the no limit shock relocator kit on mine and helper bags in all four corners!
I took my blocks out for a better ride when I installed the bags.

I am running 4" springs and 2" blocks with a c-notch and shock relocate kit. The ride is great. One important thing to remember is you will not be able to use the stock pan hard bar as it will hit the rear end cover. CPP makes a nice one that has a bend in it to easily clear the rear end cover. I am sure some will say they use the stock but it does rub and not an ideal situation.

The ride is great and it doesn't require a c notch and you can load the bed up and adjust as you need.
I hooked mine to a small pump that I can do from the cab. But just a line for air is all you need. They are cheap to.

Id run the 4" spring and 2" block over a 6" spring as others have said.
A spring is nothing more than a long bar, bent in a coil shape to create tension. (aka spring rate) The 4" spring would be a longer bar if you straightened it out as compared to the 6" spring / bar .. the same physics applies to a diving board for example. Would a shorter diving board have more or less tension than a longer one? It would be much stiffer and less travel 'bounce' if you jumped off of it. 4/2 over 6" spring gets my vote. Ive ran those Hotchkis springs too and they're very very nice.. but the truck was pretty stiff in the back. They're made to handle well if that's what youre looking for. If you plan to drive the truck on long distances I'd opt for the better ride.

Just remember if you lower the truck 5"-6" in the rear, you need an adjustable track bar to re-center the rearend I also recommend rear shock relocators,... Even with a 3"-4" drop.
These shocks need to be stood-up to work. The stock set up is marginal at best.

Andy 4639 I see you have the No Limit shock relocator. I have the ccp shock relocator that goes on the other side. Do you see a better difference with the no limit type?

If it a race truck then yea I can see it making a lot of difference since they would keep the truck more level in a corner with them mounted out side the frame rails. But in a street truck I don't think it would really matter. I just liked the kit better than CCP and if you look at the mounting points of the truck the top mounting brace isn't much in my opinion.
