Another Height question

Good day all, I know this has been asked many, many times but I cant seem to find it. I am looking to find the stock height of a 72 K20. I am thinking of installing a 2" lift but want to know where I am starting from. I know that the original springs are still in the truck and they are sagging badly (front is about 1 inch from the bump stops). Also, any recommendations on front and rear leaf springs and if I need to change out the pittman arm or not. Thanks for the help.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but a little info that may help.

Many years ago my '72 K20's front springs were sagging. I measured 7/8" to the bumpstops. Bought 2 1/2" Skyjacker Softrides and after installation I had 3 3/4" to the bumpstops, so about a 2 7/8" increase over the sagging OEM springs.

Couple of things to note: No need to replace the pitman arm with 2 1/2" springs. Brake hoses are also long enough. But the shocks are too short. Use stock rear shocks up front, they are the right length extended and compressed.

The kit I got came with rear blocks but I never used them. Truck sits nearly level, has maybe a very slight rake with the front just a tad higher than the back. I got used to it years ago and I like it that way.

On a '71 I had years ago, I took the front leafs to a spring shop and had them rebuilt with an additional leaf. Still laid almost flat, really good smooth ride and they never sagged while I still owned the truck. I ran the springs for just about 10 years and over 100k miles.

Thanks for all of the input. I am thinking that the skyjacker will be the direction I take. Can't wait to get it installed and get my new "old" wheels and hubcaps on there.

I also used the skyjacker lift springs on my 72 K20, love the ride, used the springs in the front, blocks in the rear, and skyjacker shocks all the way around,I also used U-bolts , I had made at a spring shop, they come up from the bottom, with plates on the top from a 74 chevy pickup....don't like the square u-bolts that point down....I have a corporate 14 bolt from a 74

Thanks for the input. I ordered the lift today. Hopefully my wheels will be back from powder coating this week and I can get everything set up.
