2001 Chev 3500 2wd Dually 8.1L Allison ???

I bought a 2001 Chevrolet 3500 2wd Crew Cab Dually 8.1L Allison yesterday.
It has 181,000 miles on it. Does any one know of issues or problems I should watch out for?
Or maybe even recommended items to maintenance at this mileage?
I bought it out of California so it has no rust issues and is in real good shape. Other than looking at the odometer you would never know it has that many miles.
I will be using this truck very little, only for towing and longer trips when all the guys need to go to a Drag Race somewhere, because my Mini Cooper won't fit everyone. HaHa!

You sir bought an excellent truck, it's just not easy on fuel. Transmission is great, the new big blocks don't seem to give any issues other than not having a great aftermarket. I would recommend having someone tune it, there are a few people who have reported getting 17-18mpg with a tune. But anything is better than 10. I wouldn't be scared of the miles, I've seen a few local work trucks with 300,000. Yours being a 2wd you wont have to worry about the transfer case needing rebuilt eventually.

Any suggestions on a tune?
Or are you talking Hypertech or similar?

No the handhelds really are junk, they've shown some just bump timing up 2* and that's all.

It looks like you're in South Dakota? A quick search found two shops that seem to have a good reputation. Also when you're traveling to California or Vegas there will be a huge amount of tuners there. I'm sure someone at the racetrack could do it as well. Good luck, hope this helps!
