71-72 re-pop door panels
I notice people looking for used OEM door panels for their trucks and paying more than what a new set cost. Are the aftermarket sets not quality pieces? Here is a link to a set in looking at from LMC. I could also go through classic parts as well.

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
The 72 repro door panels are poor fitting according to every thread I've read on here. Some vendors stopped carrying them due to all the complaints.

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
The Cheyenne trim won't fit them either. I have set in the storeroom that will never get used.

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
let me add to this.
the earlier style(flat/standard) aftermarket abs plastic door panels dont work the greatest either. misaligned holes lots of flash(trimming needed) and not square where they sit in the door. better off finding good oe's

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
My question would be can you put 67-68 door panels on a 71-72...

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
The 71 yes the 72 well yes but with a lot of extra work. See the 72's had one year only doors[have a dimple for a extra vent window screw]. Also the 72's had plastic door panels compared to the others having steel flat panels. So to better make the plastic panels work the door relay[where the handle to open the door goes and the window regulator] are longer to stick farther out to compensate for the difference in the door panels

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
There are no reproductions made of '72 door panels. That is why they are precious. Reproductions are "replicas" of the original. These being discussed are simulations. They were modeled after the originals, but by no means are they reproductions. They are replacement quality parts, they'll work in place of original.

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
I need new panels for my '71 Cheyenne. Or at least new skins. Are the skins designed for '71 Cheyenne of generally decent quality? I have the bare metal panels currently.

Re: 71-72 re-pop door panels
Let me interject.
I think op is referring to 72 only INTERIOR DOOR PANELS. not door skins which would be exterior body. 71-72 interior door panels are different |
