Towing Limits

Gents,
Was wondering about the published towing limits on the 72 K-10. I have re-built mine and wonder what kind of 5th wheel weight would work. I know that there is more stock for 3/4 and 1 ton, but curious as I haul horses as well.

Re: Towing Limits

Fairly safe rule of thumb is 50% more than what your vehicle weighs and anything over 1500lbs needs its own trailer brakes.
So if your blazer is 4000lbs....you should be able to do 6000-6500lbs all day long...and needless to say a lot of folks have done more.
What is your rear axle?....if it doesn't say on the spid as a 3:73 (option), and if it came with a V-8 then it is a 3.07. The 3:73 would allow more towing weight.
My two bits.

Re: Towing Limits

I know it has been posted before, the search function should bring it up pretty quick.
Id say transmission and trailer brakes would be limiting factors.
