changing cargo light to 3rd brake light
I have an 86 k10 steps ide, I am going to be putting in a new head liner and I thought about changing the cargo lamp to a 3rd brake light.
I don't want to do any major body work to do this so I was looking for a red lens, with no luck. I remember in the 60's you could buy a bottle of amber paint to change clear front turn signals to amber. does anyone sell a red type dye? Wayne |

I wouldn't change the lens color. You can buy a bulb in the color you need. But even better get a Led replacement light.

Re: changing cargo light to 3rd brake light
I put a brake light on my 82 . If I remember this was for a mid 90's truck . It is led red brake light and still has the cargo light . I did have to trim the hole to get it to work but was not that bad . I did it after I had the truck painted . You will have to run a extra wire for the brake light .
Just food for thought if you don't come up with anything , |

Re: changing cargo light to 3rd brake light
Thanks guys, I never thought about just a red bulb.. going to blame it on "old timers"
I will have to check out other cargo lights and maybe cut the cab to fit Wayne |

Duplicolor Metalcast, you can get it in red. It's a translucent color and will dye the lens nicely.

Splice into the single wire from the brake pedal switch to the column for the Cyclops brake lamp power.
