Changing light switch
Got my grandpas '99 and i find it irritating how i cant turn the lights off when im running from the police. Just kidding of course, sometimes during dusk id just rather drive with my running lights on and find it irritating GM made it so we cant turn the lights off on this year. I know on '02 and up or something the switch had 4 selections instead of the three so you could set it to auto or switch the lights on/off yourself. Is it possible to just wire that new piece onto my pickup or is it more complicated beyond that? Thanks!!
The pic attached is what i want to install. Last edited by Roadkillerv8; 02-16-2016 at 07:50 PM. Reason: Clarification |

Re: Changing light switch
Push the dome override button 4 times in a row ( fairly fast ) and all the lights will turn off.
There is no need to replace the switch. |

Re: Changing light switch
There is something wrong with the dome override switch. It works on all 99-02 trucks.
You can't swap in an 03+ switch into a 99-02. The 03+ has a 14 pin connector. 99-03 has 10. The design of the switch and their circuits are completely different. |

Re: Changing light switch
I'll try the 4 push thing on my 99 Tahoe.
I don't like them on all the time either. It spooks deer. If the 4 push don't work I'll install a defeat switch between dash and relay then report back

Re: Changing light switch
Just a little something I tell everyone that asks about that type truck and the wiring, "There is Nothing from the 02 truck that will change over to the 03 and newer as far as the wiring goes" When they sent tout the model year 03 EVERYTHING is different. I think one exception is the push button 4X4 switch, but as far as general wiring items the 03 and newer has a whole different generation of wiring.
