rust cover up
got a 1973 Cheyenne shortbed as a hunting truck and the bed has come rust spots, as well as the front quarter panel and few little spots here and there.
Before I drop the cash for a rhino lining or something like that, are there any recommendations on which rust cover up spray (ie rustoleum, etc) works best for bed and for the body?

Re: rust cover up
Is it rot or just surface rust? If there is major pitting or rust through I would get the areas repaired before it gets any worse. I have had good luck with rustoleum paints.

Re: rust cover up
Got a picture? The only proper way to do it is to cut it out and replace with new metal.

Re: rust cover up
If you're talking tiny surface rust spots, hit em with a wire wheel and some ospho, or spring for a pint can of POR 15 or Chassis Saver.

Re: rust cover up
Here are some photos of the rust...the first photo are the rust marks in the bed, the 2nd and 3rd, show the rust in the line down the middle, that's just went leaves and dirt on either side and the last is obviously more rotted.
I have a buddy who does really nice rust work, before I can get to him and drop a load of cash, are there any rattle can solutions to treat and will help with the surface rust? And any way to treat and fill the rot for the time being?

Re: rust cover up
I don't think covering it up for now will help much, especially the top of the bed rail. For the bed just sand it down the best you can and spray some rust inhibitor on it to help slow it down. Best solution is to get your buddy to fix it properly. You have a 73 cheyenne short bed 4x4 this is a truck worth fixing properly. Good luck!
