Re: Driveshaft length?
FWIW, my 74 c10, TH350 trans, 6 in tail shaft and 12 bolt rear had a 59.5in drive shaft from center u joint to center u joint.

Re: Driveshaft length?
My '77 was shortboxed, 350/350, 9" tail and 12-bolt rearend. I had a driveshaft made that was 56-3/8" center to center. Though I think 56-1/2" would have been better.

Re: Driveshaft length?
Tip: For measuring Drive Shafts
You should measure the Drive shaft from the weld to weld. This way you all ways get the correct measurement, because the end are stander parts, and weld to the shaft.

Re: Driveshaft length?
The driveline shop that made mine, specifically asked for center of u-joint to center of u-joint.
I would think wed to weld may not be accurate enough, because you cannot tell where the actual seam is beneath the weld. Not everything is fabricated perfect. Your driveline shop may vary....

Re: Driveshaft length?
The correct way for measuring drive shaft length is center of joint to center of joint. Always measure your own combination to be accurate. Others MAY vary depending on the parts they use.

Re: Driveshaft length?
I built driveshafts for our local trash hauler . We used cl -cl on the weld because the weld yokes are standard sizes ! We also had records on each truck as to lengths and hardware , it saved a ton of time for our road mechanic!

Re: Driveshaft length?
Maybe I should have said this for a drive shaft that still installed in the truck or car.
(because If you measurement with the drive shaft on the Truck or Car from center to center yokes will not be the same as off truck or car). But if you take out your drive out or have it out to measure it. both ways work as long as you double check your both measurement. and 6inch tall is about 3 inch shorter than his? how does that work? are you using a two part shaft or one part shaft.

Re: Driveshaft length?
Has anyone done a 72 C10 long bed with a L83 with 6L80 trans? Would like to hear if you did a one piece driveshaft and from what engine mount hole.
