'51 3100 drive shaft removal
Help! Another problem from the new guy. Please give guidance on how to remove the drive shaft on my '51 3100 three speed..I've read the manual, looked at the pics in the assembly manual, and have gotten nowhere fast. I'll try and post a couple of pictures of what I'm dealing with. The reason I'm dropping the DS is to count the "Swirls"? Inside the tranny so I can get the right speedo cable adapter the previous owner as kind enough to lose or sell...

All 51 truck speedo gear are either 18 or 17 tooth http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-tooth-TH3...NTLIRa&vxp=mtr |

Re: '51 3100 drive shaft removal
I thought the same thing, but being new to this, I figured it was a skill I'm going to have to learn at some point, anyway.
I found a guy in oklahoma who had some speedo gears lying around, but he was reticent to sell me one, saying it could mess up the other gears. It was his idea to drop the drive shaft and count the "Swirls". I'll try the link you sent me Monday.. Thanks for responding! |
