Drop spidles and tie rod ends - reverse orientation
I have western chassis 73+ drop spindles and 73+ tie rod ends going into my 72 C10. Here is the question....even though the taper on the tie rod end is right, the spindle taper is machined so the tie rod end goes in to the spindle from the top. Thus the bolt faces down. I believe the stock orientation is insert from bottom with bolt facing up. Is this standard for drop spindles, or were my spindles machined wrong?

My '72 drop spindles go in from the top. Not sure about the '73 and later though.
