Bench seat options
Hey guys I've got a 1970 C10 short box step side I bought out of the Carolina's for a project. It's got a set of high back bucket seats in it that I hate. I'might keeping the black interior theme going in it and I've the chance to buy a real nice black bench seat out of a Chevelle SS. Has anyone ever put one in a 67-72 C10 before? It's about a 5 hour round trip to get the seat if I want it. I hate to make the drive if it's not going to fit. I'm not against doing some modifications in the mounting process but if it's to long then it's just too long. Not much I could do about that.

Re: Bench seat options
I have not tried this but my initial concerns would be
1 is it wide enough for the truck 2 is the back at the correct angle (there is not very much room in the cab especially with the tank in the cab so I would be concerned about loosing any room between the steering wheel and the back of the cab due to a different seat design. 3 around here you can buy a decent seat for around $150-200 or a complete rebuild seat for $75-100. Why would you not just go back stock if you want a bench seat?

Re: Bench seat options
Thanks for the reply boynton. These are all the same concerns I share that's why I figured I'd throw it out there to see if it's been done. Unfortunately here in Ohio it's not that easy to find a decent black original bench that's not totally roached out. Ones that I have found are in the west or deep south and the freight is more than the seat to get it to me. If you do find one in these parts your looking at paying $400 to 500 for a decent one. I've got a 4spd Muncy setup out of a car in it so I'll need to change the Hurst shifter handle to one of the wide sweeping bench seat handles if I go with the bench as well. Any suggestions on somewhat period correct buckets that would fit? Seems as though people are very proud of there seats for sale! There's soon really crazy prices out there.
