was driving down a bumpy road and all of a sudden i lost all power to the truck. no lights, ignition ect.....
so what i have done so far is all new battery connection. starter is good, new fuses. i also striped the red power wire coming out of the fire wall to the alternator lights ect..., and ran a wire strait from the battery to the splice and the truck started and lights came on so now what? the picture below shows the wire i striped. my question: is the purple wire my feed and what can i do next to trouble shoot my problem |

Did you check the IGN fuse under the dash?
There are schematic's in the forum in the electrical section, do an advanced search for electrical schematic.

Re: electrical issues on my 72" C20
The purple wire going to the starter will be dead until the switch is turned to the start position, have someone turn the key to start when you have a test light or multi meter on that connection and ground. if turning the key lights the circuit and the starter won't crank then the solenoid went bad, if it does not lite then its probable the switch may be bad.
A good thread showing the fuse panel if needed: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=699612 Post 18 shows how to mod for the 3 wire alternator: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...9&postcount=18 Post #1 or 6 has links to a larger version of the schematic http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=185856
