MII lower control are brace/gusset
I am coming along on MII install. My question is there is a small triangle steel brace that gets welded to the rear steel crossmember tube to the crossmember.
I have read this is a weak point or area of possible failure. Would it be better to make on that is the length of the steel sleeve, but elongated on the end that welds to the crossmember? Like 6" or so? I'm no engineer, maybe the one supplied is enough. Maybe the failed ones were not welded properly? In the photo below, I'm talking about lengthening the side toward my thumb. Your thoughts? Am I worried about nothing here or overthinking it? |

Re: MII lower control are brace/gusset
Maybe a little of overkill, mine has no brace and has had no issues. Mine is a Fatmans front end.

Re: MII lower control are brace/gusset
i would use the one it came with then add a rear support something like this, which is what I did to mine (not a pic of mine, just swipped from the web). That triangle supports the stress in only one plane. If you research crossmember failures you'll find a number of them.
Another option
