removal of stripped bolts in locking hubs
hey guys. i realize this is a question regarding my ford, but locking hubs are locking hubs. here's my problem. i'm trying to change the u joints in my front axle. 4 bolts are stripped out from the PO. i've tried the correct size allen key, pounding a screwdriver bit in, easy outs (snapped off). i've been using penetrating oil (swear i heard it laugh at me). i'm not worried about hub body damage as i'll be installing warn units next summer. i need to change the joints before winter tho. and before it gets any colder. thanks

hubs
use a cobalt drill bit and drill the head off, then when the hub is off use a pair of vice grips to get the bolt out. use antiseze when you put it back together.

GAS AXE, GAS AXE , Torch em' off LOL Nah just do what Troy said , Very simple fix just take your time and be easy with the visegrips. Cause if you break them off in spindle the doo doo gets deeper and stinks worse too.

BOLT
actualy there is something to what trukkers69 said. if the bolts are still being difficult after the hub is out of the way, heat the bolt, then let it cool, then try the vice grips again.

Use a reverse twist bit when you drill: it may end up coming out when you do the initial drilling.
