Flexplate question

I am installing the motor on my truck. I didn't disassemble the drive train and have reached the point of attaching the flexplate onto the crank. Can someone please tell me what the extra hole in the flexplate is for.
Thanks.

Re: Flexplate question

There used to be a dowel pin in the crank. It helped locate either the flex plate or flywheel. It only bolts on one way anyways
