flush gas cap

I have a 78 suburban with the exposed gas cap. I want to put in a flush cap. I was going to use a motorcycle cap. It is the push and turn style. has anyone done this? need a little help going from the filler neck down to the tank. Not sure if i should use exhaust pipe or rubber fuel fill hose.
