What do all these numbers mean?

On my 1974 the glove box tag has a service Parts Identification label. On the top of it after the words Printed in USA are a bunch of numbers I'm trying to decode this

The numbers are as follows ;
551A23 37 437 OCT 04 73 CC10703 342933 26

I am assuming that the COT 04 73 is the build or order date and I know CC10703 is the truck type (74 c10 short bed.. The numbers 342933 is in bold same color as the blue on the sticker so I assume that's the sticker part number.. so what's the other numbers up there mean?

Re: What do all these numbers mean?

Bob;

Your correct on the "342933" number being the sticker part number as mine has the same. Here's my speculation on the breakdown of the other numbers based on other GM model cowl tag information:

551A23 = 551 code for seat trim
IE: Black cloth bench
A23 Seat type code

37 = Body Color Code (This is a guess)

437 = Ext. Trim Code (Also a guess)

I have no guess on the "26" code number. Hopefully others will have info.

Steve

Re: What do all these numbers mean?

I do not think you are correct as further down the label it has the body code which in this case is Killarney green 568 also as far as I can find out there is no A23 code actually in daylight the actual code MAY be 551423 the sticker is so faded
for grins here is a list of things I have come up with
