Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-C-...m=111961720178

Looks like the Generals of Mayhem are finally selling the 74 Stepside we all know and love as the Muscle Truck. Personally the Muscle Truck was the sole inspiration for my love of Squarebody Chevys. Everything about the truck was perfect to me. The mismatched paint on the panels, the stance, and of course what is arguably the greatest sounding exhaust tone on the planet (check Youtube if you haven't heard it).

HOWEVER...... Whoever thinks this truck is worth over $50,000 is high as a kite. I understand the appeal of owning a famous vehicle, but this?? Just ridiculous in my opinion. You can build a clone for probably $15,000 or less, and most of that would be under the hood. Personally I'm bummed to see this truck leave the Roadkill fleet. It was always my favorite. I only hope whoever buys it fixes the safety issues and continues to beat the ever living snot out of it like the Roadkill boys did. Long live the Muscle Truck!

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

Wow thanks for sharing.

people are bidding on it, now it's a touch over 52 - that's crazy considering it needs probably another 10 to finish it.

But those gas monkey guys spent over 100 on their C10 build.

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

I think you're thinking of the Dart vs Charger build-off? (Or I missed an episode!! Ha) But, yes, same guys. I remember watching that show... Anyway, I digress.
Have to agree - I cannot fathom how someone would think $52k is even remotely reasonable - and that's just the current bid. Unless, of course, someone is willing to pay what a house USED to cost just to be able to say "I have a hot rod built by an old Hot Rod editor." It's kind of ironic because the whole point of the Roadkill "movement," for lack of a better word, is to take a rough vehicle, hot rod it on a budget, and have fun. Paying $52k (or more) to have something like that is kinda, well, the opposite of that. Ridiculous. I guess shabby chic don't come cheap...

Don't be fooled by the bids. Their Burb was on eBay, "sold" for a high dollar amount, but the bidder(s) never came thru. It only sells for that amount if the winning bidder pays...so we'll see here.

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

True but the engine alone is worth more than the Macho Grande Burb. I'm sure the winning bidder will back out, but this thing will still sell for way too much.

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

AH! Those trucks - remember them, yes. Thanks, I was thinking of the episode where the monkey guys actually had a drag race with the road kill guys and both had to use the same coyote engine. The slammed white/green C10 was a nicely detailed truck if I remember whereas the pikes peak pacer 65 was a pseudo racer. Both nice. And, to me, much, much nicer than the roadkill square listed on ebay. Good point also that shill bidding is alive and well. Only takes one sucker though to jump in and think they are "winning" to make the sale happen.

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

I saw that and can't help but wonder if there isn't some skullduggery going on with the bidding. Like maybe a dummy bid to try to get a real bidder to bite? Is that even legal? I'm naturally skeptical and borderline paranoid, so on this one I'm calling

One of the q and a on the show they said they are tired of people are asking if the muscle truck is for sale.I guess the ebay add is to see if anyone is crazy enough to pay that for it.

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

They were tired of hearing that question because people were offering them $3-5000 thinking it was just a beater truck, not knowing the engine alone was worth more than that.

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

Freiburger stated a few times he'd never sell the truck. I guess never say never. This truck is how I discovered the Roadkill show. I shed a tear or two when they sawzalled the front fenders for the off road show.

Oh and here in Nazi California it being a 74 adds to the value, no smog needed. Not 50k worth but hey who knows.

Pretty sure they used Hellcat engines, not Coyote... just a little different

At one point they said those were repro fenders, so no big loss.

I'd only consider it shill bidding if it's someone doing it for the seller. In this case I'm not at all sure that's the situation.

Re: Roadkill's Muscle Truck hits Ebay

apparently they are aware its to high

his answer to the only question

"The truck is currently in street trim with the street tires and new black fenders. The most recent photo is the one with the snowy mountain in the background. No extra wheels and tires are included in the auction. I may need to end this auction and start over because of the high volume of bogus bids."
