#3 1968 c20 cst

Stock 327 TH350
It's all there but one piece of molding. If you can spot it and you got it, I want it haha.
With keeping the stock intake manifold on how much horsepower can I get outa this motor with a rebuild? What should be done to the rear end to make this a street toy? It has HD springs.

Boy this is a striped down modal the only 2 options i see are the AT and the 327 and side molding.reminds me of my 1967 Chevy camaro all it had was a 3 speed on the floor factory with the 327.Later i was told the car is more rare then the yenko's cus every one used them for crash up car's drag car's and beaters.

I do have some good new's for you i don't a lot of leg work on the 3/4 tons of that year if yours has leaf spring rear end you can do a swap with just front spindles to 1/2 ton for 300.00 and find a 1971-87 1/2 ton that has leaf spring and you have a 1/2 ton truck with disc brakes

Check with CCP.com they make front end parts they make spindles that will take your 3/4 ton ball joint and tie rod all you need to buy is backing plate caliber rotor porshtiing valve disc brake brake hoses and you have a good nice usable 1/2 ton truck

Nice truck. Probably has a pretty deep rearend - since you mentioned it as a street toy, and the original trans is already long gone (TH350 never came in a 68), you could swap in an o/d trans as the most bang for the buck to get more 1st gear torque multi and much, much better highway rpm. Much more efficient than just a rear gear swap, kills two birds with one stone. That kinda cool don't come cheap though. Personally, I think that ol gal would prefer to be freshened up or restored and used as a truck!

You know what transmission came in the 68?
I think this is an Eaton axle.
I don't expect it to be a drag truck, but I like it to burn some rubber and get off lights.
It a 2x4 so it's gonna live on the street. ( I have two 4x4s).
I just want to get as much HP out of a motor rebuild while keeping it pretty stock and build the transmission to handle it. And maybe a position rear end.

Realistically about 300HP would be my guess IF its built right, the rear end is a GM 12 bolt probably, could have 3.07 or 3.42 to 1 ratio, i think that ratio was dependent on if it was a standard or auto tranny stock. If it was mine I'd not hesitate to do a rebuild.

Stock trans, if automatic, would have been a TH400. Guessing(!) stock rear would likely have been more like an Eaton HO with 4.10 (but not sure with an automatic... don't have my gouge stash handy )

I was trying to buy that truck too! The guy who was supposed to buy my old 70 that weekend flaked out. It was my birthday that weekend, I planned on selling the 70, heading up north for some camping and then bring that truck home! Small world.

Cool truck , my 67 327 4 barrel three speed truck had 220 hp stock , had it rebuilt I wanted a little more hp and be reliable so 300 hp was good for me. Not much motor work, it needed a bore so it got a 30 over with a very mild cam using same Rochester carb rebuilt also and using stock exhaust manifolds with a stock type dual exhaust. I think 327 could come up to 350-375 hp from the factory, also being reliable but with different heads and intake things like that. Can't wait till its all back in and driving around.

I'll probably follow a similar route. 300 should be fun. I want to keep the heads and manifold on it.

Was going to be my comment also , I thought all c20s had turbo 400s if they were autos , 327 is a great engine

....did you get your molding piece? (passenger side...back of cab, correct?)
If not, I think that is the only couple of pieces of 67/68' molding that I have off these trucks..lol.

I haven't found an original yet, just a repop. If you've got a piece you'd be willing to part with, ID be willing to pay a fair price. It's literally the only thing I can find missing. Even the original buddy buckets the guy is gonna sell me, for extra haha
