Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

Holy cow, look what I found. I guess it is all in how you word your search

http://www.fillernecksupply.com/1978...l-filler-hose/

This is worth buying just to see if it will work

Trying to figure out if the earlier years will fit a 79. This company has them for both sides

Nice find but WTF 50 bucks! And it's outta stock...I need to buy one as mine is opening up at the ends. I double clamped it and it stopped leaking but I would like to replace eventually.

I think I remember finding this a while ago, and it was out of stock then. Were you able to order one? Might be something that's been on the website but unavailable for some time...

Well thanks for the bad news. I was excited for a minute. Anybody know if the one from the earlier years will fit a 79?

I'm not 100% sure it was the same website. I looked high and low for one myself (still looking actually). Hopefully they still make them and will get them soon.

Re: Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

I called filler necks supply they are out. I just called the dealer. They are out

I am currently chatting with Classic Parts of America and they are going to pull one off the shelf and measure the length and see if it will work. I will keep you posted. If it does fit I think I will buy two (2) and cut and twist the other side with a piece of exhaust pipe or conduit. Depends on what I can find

Re: Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

Classic parts just told me it is 11.5" from inside to inside straight measurement. Going to measure mine tonight and see if it will work. mine is cut short, does anyone have a full length piece they can measure?

I bought a couple from LMC a few years ago for a '79 http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=49 and 73-78 will not work...

Re: Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

Why will they not work? Lmc only has the filler hose for 73-78 stepside. Not 79.

Re: Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

I measured my hose tonight and it is just over 9.5". But it is cut short. I am not sure if I actually cut off two inches. Either way. Worse case scenario my 79 seems shorter than the 73-78. So they should work. What do you guys think?

Re: Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

When I did the LS swap on my 86 steps ide, I only went back with the passenger side tank. I put the driver side hose and filler neck up for safe keeping. If I can remember when I get home today, I'll measure it for you.

Re: Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

FWIW: This topic has been discussed on this board many times. Do a search and you can find all kinds of input. Bottom Line for me is:

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A SPARE INLET HOSE FOR A 1977 STEPSIDE SHORTBED FOR MANY/MANY
YEARS! CONCLUSION> DON'T BELIEVE I WILL EVER FIND ONE THAT FITS--PERIOD! Larry
P.S. I bought many spare parts from GM when I bought this truck but never thought to buy this item>My Bad! (Long discontinued from GM)

I just bought a pair from gas tank depot. See what happens. Thanks for the offer to measure but will find out soon enough

Re: Look what I found, square body step side gas filler hose

Ok here is the deal. Not a direct fit but they work. I picked up a pair from

http://gastankdepot.bmobilized.com/?...ler-necks.html

So I bought I think like an 85 bed. Bought new plastic filler pieces that the necks connect to. I had to drill them to get my 79 necks to fit. The passenger hose was a direct fit. The driver side I had to shorten 2 inches. But it squeezed together. I think they will work. Have not tried to fill them yet. Still trying to install my steps. Ran out of stainless bolts. Back out there tomorrow
