Headlamp switch removal

I'm just stripping out the dashboard ready for painting and I can't seem to get the headlamp switch out of the dash panel,it's on a 71 Cheyenne ,any info please?

Locate the spring button on side of switch. Push this and it will release the shaft. Then unscrew retaining nut.

There is a little button on the top of the switch so reach your hand up there and push down the button and pull the head light knob out. Sometimes it needs to be in the parking light position to come out and also remove the bezel trim if you are taking out the entire switch, but it can stay in if you are just pulling the switch. To pull the entire unit take off the bezel, disconnect the wiring from it then it can be removed
