Best substitute bench seats 67-72'?
Anyone know which bench seats are the best substitute for the originals in the 67-72 models?
GM?....how about Dodge? any other successes using different bench seats? What about complexity to fit and install? I saw some in one of the threads that looked like it came out of mid 80's? How about newer than that?....or 70's? or? If anyone can share what has worked for them, I would greatly appreciate it. Backstory, I've been looking at a good deal on a local truck but it is need of a bench seat. There is some sort of weird bucket seat arrangement out of....who knows what? Many thanks guys!....I'm always interested in good feedback and stories All Good Coley

This is the seat I am using. 1999 Chevy truck. Very comfortable and I like having headrest. The two front holes line up with the two holes in the floor, Just drill two rear holes and its bolted in.

88-98 seats. The 60/40s from 88-94 are very popular. It's cool that they are just newer GM truck seats and I think they actually allow you to sit back a bit deeper

Had to cut another set of brackets and weld them to the stock brackets on this seat. A little work but the seat was $50 so I can't complain.

Re: Best substitute bench seats 67-72'?
Geez...both of those seats shown look like the belong in there.
I might have to start checking out a few local wrecking yards...noting that these seats might still be a pretty good bargain compared to a full on original seat. Any major issues mounting those in? All Good Coley

Re: Best substitute bench seats 67-72'?
The 99 series has a bench like frame so only mod is making some brackets to bolt to the frame and bolt to the original holes. I have since had mine recovered and it looks sharp. You could also get other years before 02 and they have no seat belts in them. I would also runs some steel slats from the back of the center console to the seat belt holes.

Re: Best substitute bench seats 67-72'?
I have this exact seat in my 70. Comfortable but I fell like it's about an inch or so too high. I am using the bracket that the seat came with.

Re: Best substitute bench seats 67-72'?
I'm using a second row seat from a 90s suburban. It's a 60/40 split bench seat with fold down arm rest/cup holder. One hole on each seat aligns perfectly for placement, then you have to do some fab work to get the rest situated. Comfy, but sits about 2 inches higher than stock. Works for me since I have long legs.
