Dana 44HD/Dana 60 hub interchange

Does anyone know if you can make the original Spicer 44HD lockouts work on a 1986 Dana 60 front end? I really love the look of the spicer lockouts and would like to put them on my front Dana 60 axle

Won't work. Different diameter and spline count on stub shafts, different overall diameter of hub housing for lockout.

Ok I figured they were different but never hurts to ask. Now to decide on keeping the 44HD or upgrade to the 60

Well it has 37s on it and a 6 inch lift. And it occasionally sees some mud on a weekend with friends. So nothing serious except for play time

Granted a 44 will live, but not if you get crazy. I'd go with a 60 and be done IMO.

Who cares about the lockouts you can get better ones anyway. Checkout the yukons. Anyhow, should not be any question, put in the Dana 60. Plus you don't want to decide on your hub immediately anyhow. You might want to upgrade to 70 outers and then upgrade the lockouts
