Frame swap s10 vs dakota

Anyone use a dakota frame under a 47-54 truck ?


Any cons ?

Also i see people saying to use a 4x4 s10 rear axle when doing
A s10 frame swap ...im wondering why ?

Wheelbase doesn't jive as well. I think Steve at Industrial Chassis had one around with the Dakota chassis that got him started to building the crossmember for Dakota suspension. Wheelbase lengths are
Wheelbase 111.9 in (2,842 mm)Standard cab short box
123.9 in (3,147 mm) standard cab long box.
130.9 in (3,325 mm) (ext. cab)

Meaning that you would have to do some stretching or shortening to make it work.

I read about using wheel spacers when using s10 chassis
How much spacer is required?

I see the dakota is a few inches wider ..i assume the frame is
Wider as well which may also cause a issue (or help maybe )

The 4x4 s10 rear has a wider track than the 2wd rear. Because the s10s track width is a couple inches narrower than the AD's track width, you have to make up the difference with spacers, rear offset on the wheels, etc. The 4x4 rear helps you make up some of that width in back of the truck.
