Leaf spring bushings

Guys, need a little help here.... I got new poly bushings, but they don't just slide in..... There is a metal leave sleeve in the springs, looks like if I remove the sleeve they will fit, but I didn't want to remove it until I check with some of you guys.... Was the sleeve part of the old bushings? 71 K-10

Re: Leaf spring bushings

I think that it is part of the old bushing. I replaced the bushings in my newer 01 Chevy and there was a sleeve around the outside of the rubber where it went into the spring loop and inside where the bolt went through. Not positive our old ones are the same but I think so.
