Re: Which wiper is correct?
When I removed the blades the after market have plastic pieces holding the blade in and the ones I removed have 2 stainless strip holding the blade in.

Re: Which wiper is correct?
The originals on my 69 are Trico and look like the ones in picture 1. The original blade rubber was retained with the stainless strips. The metal part that retains the blade has a dull silver finish, not shiny. As a side note my wiper arms are also Trico with a dull finish. Some repros I've seen are shiny.

Re: Which wiper is correct?
Ok cool. I thought that must be original. They are dull as well. These will be used on my build for sure.

Re: Which wiper is correct?
Here are a couple pics of mine. I doubt that the current rubber blades are original but were likely from the late 70s or 80s. The blades in your pic retained with the plastic are currently available over the counter.

Re: Which wiper is correct?
The blades with loose stainless BS are the current style of replacement blade... if you find a place that sells them. Only real parts stores do. The big box wannabees force you into modern replacement assemblies.

Re: Which wiper is correct?
The Trico refills are available on Amazon. They are old style with the metal strips on the sides vs the plastic. Part number 43-150. Last time I bought them they were $4.88 a pair.
Or you can order these - Trico 33-150 Classic Wiper Blade, 15" (Pack of 1). This is the blade holder piece that attaches to the wiper arm. They were around $12 the last time I bought them in Dec of '14. B/R, Randy |

Re: Which wiper is correct?
I am not sure yours are the same as mine from my 67. Here is a picture of the ones I removed from a 67 that was really original. Yours seems to be more smooth end to end like the repo one I have.

Re: Which wiper is correct?
I'm not sure what looks more smooth. Yours does appear less curved/arched. Is that what you mean? Except for that and the blades, yours look the same to me. I have 2-1/2 sets (excluding the blades) like what's in my picture. I am 100% sure that one set, not sure which, is original to the truck. The others were taken from junkyard trucks.

Re: Which wiper is correct?
Mine has a separate blade on each end for pressure to the windshield and yours has a straight arm end to end with pieces from under the main frame to put pressure on the windshield .

Re: Which wiper is correct?
I see what you mean now. Did you say in your 1st post that yours are Anco? As mentioned above mine are Trico. That may be the difference. I wouldn't be at all surprised if GM used both suppliers which probably had different designs due to patents. I can double check those I have in a few days and can then post pics without blades installed.
Here's a link to the Anco classic blades. They appear to have a polished finish but could have been available with a dull finish back in the day. http://www.classicmuscle.com/p-50403...FtwRoC0z_w_wcB Last edited by FirstOwner69; 04-27-2016 at 09:14 PM. |
