Cleaning throttle body?

I have searched and cant find the answer.I am taking off the throttle body on my 02 to clean it.But I cant get the little plastic screw to come loose for the cruise control.Hate to get rough with it and break it.Is there a trick to getting it off? Also when cleaning it is ok if the cleaner comes in contact with the electric connections on the throttle body?

Re: Cleaning throttle body?

It's kind of like a coolant crossover basically. Shoot some carb spray on them and get a hose pick in and repeat with the carb spray. Should slide off after that. Generally when they have the coolant crossover I just leave the TB on and clean it.

Re: Cleaning throttle body?

Thanks GM-power.I ended up having to cut off the line on the drivers side.Tried calling all the parts stores even the chevy dealer ship none of them had that hose.I got some fuel injection hose on there.Hope it holds up to the heat and the coolant. The throttle body was very dirty I doubt it has ever been taken off and cleaned.Seems to idle and run a little better.Hope it turns off the check engine lite.Does any body know if that fuel injection hose will hold up in the heat and coolant?
