Wheel well rust...preventing in future

Repairing wheel well rust on the '04 Crew Cab (thread here).

Anyone have any luck preventing dirt and moisture from accumulating in that area? I've seen a few plastic wheel well liners. Thoughts?

Re: Wheel well rust...preventing in future

I spend about an hour every fall & spray the underside of my truck with drain oil(used engine oil). I pull all the plastic plugs out & spray it in the rockers, cab corners, wheel wells, bottom of doors, ect. It's messy but works really good & what rust is there won't get any worse.
