New driver - '74 Short Narrow Bed C10

Been in & out of C10 daily drivers for years & just got another one. This one has old dead paint, dents & such but it's a west Texas truck with no rust in the rockers/cab corners/floor/fenders. It's really pretty clean for a '74 & still has its old wood in the bed.

It's originally a 6 cyl, 3 OTT, 3.73 truck, now has a built 350 & a Hurst Master Shift floor shifter. It's running aftermarket EQ heads, roller rockers, high rise 60's cast iron GM intake, full length headers, 750 DP carb & a Comp Cams 270H cam.

A week ago Sunday, I spotted it on CL & I drove up 3.5 hrs to get it & left out at about 7pm & drove it 220 miles back home. Got I around 11:30 & it was a good test of durability.

Putting on 15x7.5 & 15x10 US Indy mags this weekend & plannion adding a posi to the 12 bolt in the near future, a satin black fiberglass cowl hood down the road sometime & probably a respray of single stage white.

It should be a fun driver & here are a few pics.

Re: New driver - '74 Short Narrow Bed C10

This '74 has been dented, scraped down fences, hailed on & some white spray paint sprayed in places on about every panel. I have never color sanded or ran a buffer but I experimented with the '74 since I couldn't hurt the paint on it. I used thinner on the places I could spot the spray paint. I then color sanded with 1000 & found more spray painted places. Then once it was all smoothed out I went to 2000 then buffed with some 3M finesse it then rubbed it out in some spots by hand. It looks much better as it was like chalk when I got it. I really didn't think it would turn out as good as it did.
