Need help deciding on selling my 72 for a 69

Well the long and short of it....
My bud wants to buy my 72 I just got, c10 custom deluxe log bed. Needs some work and I've been slowly aquire parts for it.

I can make a few bucks and add about 1k to it and get a 69 custom short bed with a little cab mount work need and a big block...don't really want the big block so that might get swapped out.

The 69 is more intact with a decent paint job from what I can tell.

Is one worth more than the other?? One more desirable? ?

Here's a pic of the 69. Orginal color was gold I'm told and the spid says 350/350 no ps or pb but someone already converted it.

HELP!!!!

Only you can answer that one. I prefer short beds hands down, but there seems to be a big following in the long bed dept. I can say, I am with you on the BB, not a needed item, unless you want to tow. Then again, big blocks are popular as well. They made a lot less factory swb trucks in 69 than they did long bed 72s. I think I would go for it, but that's just an opinion.

The 69 looks great and it is already converted to 5 lug and disc brakes in the front. I'd do it.

Good luck, Rg

I would defiantly go with the short bed for looks. Around my area they are worth quite a bit more too.

Re: Need help deciding on selling my 72 for a 69

I'm a bit biased since I have a 69 short bed that was a long bed. It is all about what you like. I think short beds are easier to sell, less body work too. We can go back and forth with the long vs short debate. You could probably get some additional money to sell the BB. I don't get attached to vehicles so if I can make a few extra bucks I will let one go. You will win either way, you loose a cool long bed and gain a cool short bed. You just will be pissed if your friend hooks it up and you have to look at it still lol. Good luck with your decision.

The short bed would be my choice hands down ! Why would you pull the big block out ? if it runs good I'd definitely keep it in there .

If they've already done the 5 lug/disk swap, I'd say go for it!

Re: Need help deciding on selling my 72 for a 69

Personally, I'd keep the '72. It has a bed that can be of greater use and you have disk brakes in front. That '69 could be more work than you realize. I think the aftermarket AC kits run somewhere near $1000. For some strange reason the short beds are generally worth more CURRENTLY, I think because they look cute or something. I suppose they are quicker too and easier to park, but I like a long bed or a longhorn bed much more and I never cared what my trucks where worth to anyone else. -WL

Short beds are worth more because they made less of them. Love that big block!
