Wiw 72 swb k10

I'm trying to get an idea of what I may be able to get for my truck. I really don't want to sell, but the wife is bugging me, especially because I told her I bought it to fix up and sell.

It has many new parts, because it was pretty bad when I bought it. All 100% new fleetside bed, both doors are new, both fenders and inner fenders, new 1 piece floor with new rockers and cab corners. Of course all new paint (which isn't perfect, but better than a lot of others I've seen)

It's a 350 smallbolck, with manual 3ott, power steering and power brakes (disk front - drum rear) Brand new 33 12.5R15 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. New engine harness, new bed harness, new tailight harness, well, lots of new stuff I don't want to say yet what I put into this truck, but just materials were well north of $10k

Re: Wiw 72 swb k10

Some things that it does need are a passenger side below eyeline mirror tripod brackets (current one is only painted silver) Could also use a radio. I also need one of those plastic seatbet pieces for the driver side seatbelt. I also need to replace a couple pieces of the tailgate trim. I have some dents from installation. I'm hoping to find these pieces within the next few weeks at a large local parts swap that is coming up.

All glass is original and kind of shows it and the vent windows could use new weatherstripping. I have the weathersstripping and rivit kit, but never got around to re doing them.

The wife said I should ask $18k, but I was thinking $15k is more realistic. I did look through the forsale section here, and was kind of shocked at some of the asking prices (some well over $50k) At $15k, my time would come to about a dollar an hour for the work I did lol

Re: Wiw 72 swb k10

Bill, I would hope the market would support $18 for a solid short 4x4 (And isn't the wife always right !). I would definitely try ebay or maybe a Mecum auction. Mecum may add about $1000 to the cost of the truck but sale prices have been suprising. It is always tough to sell after we put so much into these trucks. People just do not always realize the value unless they have gone thru it themselves. It is easier to come down in price. I would start high & place it for sale in as many markets/forums you can. Good luck whatever you decide.

I guess if I price it too high, I may have to just keep it becasue it won't sell, and I can tell the wife that I tried selling

Re: Wiw 72 swb k10

I made a for sale sign with a price of $18,950, just to see what happens. I'll take it to some upcoming car shows and see if I get laughed at. Looking at sites like carsonline.com and carsforsale.com some people are asking some crazy high prices. Dont know if they are actually get thos prices. I'd like to try ebay, but I have no idea how to go about selling a vehicle to someone across the country. Seems like it could end up badly

Took my truck to it's first car cruise today, with for sale sign in the window. It got lots of lookers and a few took my number and one guy offered $15,000 cash, today. He wanted to ship it to Kuwait. Of course I didnt take the $15k, but if he happens to call back with $18k, he can drive it around Kuwait all he wants ☺

Re: Wiw 72 swb k10

I had a call back from the guy from Kuwait. He went to $16,000 then $16,500. I was tempted, but since I don't care if I sell or not, I held out for $18,000. I figure for the probably hundreds of hours of my time I put in this build, I should at least get more that a few dollars an hour, lol

Boy you have way more will power than I do. You were thinking 15K back in the beginning, this guy finally went up to 16.5K, 1500 bucks below your asking, I would have blinked lol.

Course I dont own anything even close to how nice that truck is, I might change my tune if I did.

Lol, yes, I was originally thinking $15k, but I tossed that orginal for sale sign and put a new one on it asking $21,000. (After my neighbor convinced me I should ask more).

When he offered the $15k, I said I could go down to $19k. I really would like to keep it, but the wife wanted it sold, BUT, the more she rides in it, the more she is liking it So maybe I actually will hold out for the $19k and if it doesn't sell, it can keep my Chevelle company
