Question 1971 Jimmy

there is a guy who lives near by me who might be selling what i think is a 71 gmc Jimmy 4x4. i am wondering how to tell the differences in the years on a GMC by certain things like the grill and whatnot? i am also wondering about how well the doors seal on a Blazer or Jimmy, for this would be a daily driver for me, and would be driven in the winter also where it is a 4x4. i have never been in a blazer or jimmy this body style so i do have lots of questions about them. any help at all will be greatly appreciated. this Jimmy has fresh paint on it, no cancer or rust at all, has a white top, has a four inch suspesion lift, and has new engine and tranny. for only $4000.

thanks for the help.

Man what I wouldnt' give to be offroad in a 4x4 in Idaho this time of the year or the next couple months. It would have to be, IMO, in the top three most beautiful states.

As far as the differences in yrs. on the GMC's, I won't touch other than saying a 72 will be different in that it will be the only year that has plastic molded door panels and a windshield mounted rearview mirror.

In my opinion, as long as all the rubber around the door is new or in good shape, the doors seal up fine+the fact that the heaters in these truck do a good job heating up the place.

If it is in the condition you say it is, the $4000 seems like a very good price to me. However, to keep it rust free, I hope you intend on parking it this winter.
