Square Body Pickups In Title?

What's up with that? Is that for people who don't know what year they have?

I know it's prolly for the confusion created by changing to R/V designate for 88-91 Crew Cabs, '88 DRW 3500 pickups, and 88/89 cab & chassis 3500s. I hope it helps those who post by year and not truck design. I probably would have just gone with 1973-1987/88-91 RV Chevrolet & GMC Pickup, but it's not my website. It's funny, till recent years these were referred to as the "rounded body style". I always go by years of the design. When you change a name you create confusion. Always bugged me GM named the S10 "Blazer". They were more prevalent and every time I'd go for parts for my '90 Blazer they'd ask, "Full-size?", and I'd answer, "No, just Blazer. Not an S10 Blazer". Suddenly the vehicle built since '69 needed an explanation to not confuse with the new product.

Always bugged me that Chevrolet named a truck line Silverado in the same years they had a trim package Silverado on a C/K truck line...

That slang has really caught on Tim. There is a site called 73-87.com or similar, but think in this age the square body title is easier to remember?

The English language gets watered down every day anymore. I bet "rounded line" will continue to go by the wayside.

You'll notice we never did that again.

After that it was GMT400/800/900. We changed the model codes in order to differentiate between the new products and old.

PS: The day I joined the engineering team is the day they split the organization into the carryover C/K/R/V group and the GMT400 team.

I had no idea what was going on; my only thought was "...PLEASE don't send me back to the assembly plant!"

I should add that when buying parts for my '87 R truck if I knew there was a common usage I would simply tell the parts guy it was an '86 C truck.

They didn't overlap. The last year for the trim package was 98.

The trim levels on the 99 and 00 C/K trucks were WT/LS/LT, just like the Silverado from 99+.

My 99 is not a Silverado. There is nothing Silverado about it. It has cloth seats, carpet, power windows and locks, cruise and tilt. But its not a Silverado. Its a K2500 LS.

That's what I do with my 99 when I get a parts guy that doesn't know as much as he should.

I did notice the change to square body a few months ago. In 73 when they came out, they were advertised as rounded line.

Makes me feel old. I still sometimes slip up and call a Tahoe a "Blazer" and the guys at work look at me like "WTH?".

I remember being mad when they changed the name of the Girl Scout cookies from "Savannahs" to "Do Se Do's".
