AC hose crimping
I was thinking about ordering the following kit so that I can crimp my own AC lines.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vta-424005/overview/ Has anyone else used this or have a better recommendation? I know I could get them crimped at a hydraulic shop, but the closest one to me is about 45 mins away and I like the thought of being able to take my time and do them myself. Thanks in advance. R/

I have the same kit, works well. It's nice when building custom hoses.

Thanks. Where did you source yours? Any suggestions or tips on using it?

Here's the same exact kit minus the Vintage Air mark-up and decal.
dayj1 & i went in "halfers" on this kit and have no complaints so far. Amazon.com: Mastercool (71550) Black Manual A/C... Last edited by Willie Makeit; 06-07-2016 at 11:14 AM. |

Re: AC hose crimping
Get the Mastercool set. I think its the same set.
For example there's a SnapOn hydraulic flaring tool that is also sold by Mastercool, I think they either make it or at least rebrand it.

Rob,
I have that same Mastercool kit. Sure made it easy to build A/C lines on site. Good luck... |

Re: AC hose crimping
I asked my tech friend about this and they have a more expensive set that doesn't require the vice. He said the main reason was being able to do them in the car without removing everything.
If you always have the flexibility of doing the crimping outside the car, then it shouldn't matter. Just a thought.

Re: AC hose crimping
Rob, thanks for posting this thread. I'm going to be getting one of these soon. It'll be nice to be able to make my own ac hoses at the shop!

Re: AC hose crimping
The kit I used required an impact wrench. Crimped the lines in the car.
I just rented the tool from the parts store. Actually cost me nothing, because the rent was refunded when I returned the tool.
