Question and update on project

Just about to take off the Aircon unit to get a nice clean firewall look (will have soft top and A/C is not really needed) and it occurs that removing it is also removing the heater as it appears to be one massive unit.

So quick question. Who makes 'heater only' units that would fit onto a 75 blazer and be fitted in place when the heater/ aircon unit can be removed and the firewall patched. I can't find anything at LMC.

Re: Question and update on project

Thinking about this - Would a C10/C20/K10/K20 heater unit also be a drop in replacement ?

Re: Question and update on project

Most likely. Might have some firewall openings that need to closed up though due to removing A/C. Sure you want to do this? Most of us are trying to reinstall the A/C.

Re: Question and update on project

I live by the coast in CA with minimal humidity, and this is really going to be a sunday driver / mall crawler / child delivery truck, with a 'softtopper' which will mostly be rolled up into the safari style top. I have A/C on my commuter car and never use it and the cleanness of the engine bay without additional hoses boxes etc really appeals to me.

Re: Question and update on project

Question is where I get a complete drop in unit - having zero luck on the interwebs thus far.

I used to live in Alameda Ca. I wish I never took mine out. Anyway, look in junk yards or pick your part. Just got an A/C unit for $35

Re: Question and update on project

So are heater only units bolted on to the firewall? So I could grab one from a 75/76 blazer or C/K truck with my socket set or is it more complex than that? Surely SOMEONE makes or refurbishes complete units somewhere ....

I can't believe there is a site for AC delete! That cracks me up. But I live in phoenix. No one here would dare do such a thing. But looks like you found what you need!
