What am I looking at? TH400

Like the title says, what am I looking at? This is connected to the detent solenoid (kickdown) on a TH400.

Looks like an old school aftermarket cruise control magnetic pickup device. The round disc in the driveshaft i believe is a magnet and is how the system reads RPM's.

Thanks, shorty! That was my next question. It does have an old cruise control setup on it. I'll double check, but I think it's wired to the detent solenoid. Would that be right?

Looks like the old Sears add on cruise control unit. That must be a real oldie. I got mine in the early 80's, it had a funky plastic zip tie to help hold the magnet.
No telling about how or why it's wired up. Sounds like the installer found a wire and used it

Thanks for the info, 68G/W. The owner said to remove it, so at some point, all that stuff is coming out. The wiring on this whole vehicle is... shall I say, "interesting!"

I got the same pick up parts, except I have no idea how they turned the cruise control on and off in the cab. Did yours have a controller on the dashboard?
