How much should i be paying for this truck??

Im very likely going to buy this truck in my area, no pictures because i still want first dibs and there are no ads up for it yet, but this is the truck:

1971 shortbed fleetside c10. Power steering power breaks, turbo 350 tranny. Body is straight, and there is virtually no rust in the rockers (less than ive ever seen on an unrestored 67 72)

She's got new exhaust, newer bench seat, stereo, new tires and powder coated steelies, leaf spring rear, all good glass. Undercarriage is very clean, no rust.

engine is a 350 that has certainly been out at some point, decent looking orange painted with an edlebrock carb (engine runs very well)

tranny shifts very firm. this truck is pretty darn fast id say

I will say it is very ugly right now, primered on the outside and not a great color inside, i do intend to paint her if i get it though, so thats not a problem.

asking price is 6000 but the guy said he'd go down to 5000.

would that be way overpaying, or could this be a decent deal?

thanks in advance everyone!!

Would be easier to help if there are pictures to see.
Posting pics will not reveal where the truck is, so give it a shot and let us help you properly.

Figure $5000 for a decent paint job, thus making you replace all weatherstrip and other items that will look poor after the new paint, then ask yourself, will the truck be a $12,000 truck?

If it really is rust free, you cant go wrong at $5,000

Check to ensure it is a true short bed truck. Nowadays there are a LOT of cut down long beds being passed off as original short beds.
