Door panel install

So I got a new interior for my 68 K20 from Grumpy Old Man. All I have installed so far are the visor and door panels. I need to have my seat frame sand blasted before I install the cover, and tearing apart the dash to install the new pad is going to be a pain so Im trying to have other stuff ready to do under there before I get to it.

My door panels are backerboard with vinyl covering. Im wondering if anyone has ever used a long wide strip of Velcro to attach the bottom of the door panel vs using the factory screws. I think it would look a bit better without the screws, just not sure if Velcro is strong enough to keep something like a door panel on.

Re: Door panel install

Try your local fabric store for 2" sticky backed Velcro it will work fine and hold the panels securely without hardware . As simple as peel and stick .easy peasy

Re: Door panel install

Great idea!! I have new panels I bought off of EBay. Basically the same thing hardboard with a cover on it. The factory nuts and holders are rusted in and I have been trying to figure out what the best way to fix them is. The velcro idea is perfect.

Re: Door panel install

The arm rest, metal strip at the top and the handles do a fine job of keeping the rest in place. I just wasn't sure if people found they would catch and pull the panels back at the bottom if they used Velcro. Ill get some and give it a go, if I mess up the panels down the road I know where I can get another pair =)

That 2" Velcro has a lot of tooth try just a few 2x2 squares located on the high spots first .
