Upgraded blower motor

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone knows of a harder blowing blower motor? Mine in my crew cab is brand new and the switches are brand new but it just doesnt blow as hard as i think it should. Any Ideas?

is the little white tab on the blend door broken... probablly so.. remove the duct work that goes from the center of the duct work.. its held on with a few screws.. if its broke there ya go. another tell tell sign is if you are getting air on the dash vents plus the floor.. mine air flow was poor, replaced that 2$ part and its pretty good for an 87

I'd say something is definitely up. These trucks blow pretty well when working correctly. No blower upgrade should be needed.

Wanna complain about blower strength, drive the 1st gen s10s. The ductwork in those just kills all the air flow that the blower creates.

There's always room for improvement I remember a post that said the blower out of a 91 fits and blows more air

For the most part, yes there is always room for improvement. Just saying I'd check what 87chevy said about the blend door first.

also the blend door over the gas pedal can be ajusted 3 ways inside
inside the rod can be put to all up ,all down, or leave some going up or down

Very good info, I have the same problem with my 84 .I have cold a/c but it barely blows so I cant use it . Gonna check this out when I get home.

Just did the blower motor upgrade mentioned in the other thread. It does seem to give a little bit more air flow. However, the motor that was in there was definitely not new. Also, some were saying that it was like having a 5th blower speed, and imo, it unfortunately isn't that big of an upgrade to say it's like having another speed.

The stock blower motor has always worked fine on my 73 (no a/c) and 76 and 82 with a/c. Having owned many new GM trucks and SUVs in the past 10 years, I can say that newer blower motors push slightly more air on the highest speeds and do have more settings, but they are not noticeably more powerful on the highest speed than an old square motor. Are your sure that your fan switch is actually changing the fan speeds when you move the switch on the a/c control? I had my fan switch go out and the higher fan settings were not working even though the lever was moving through all of the positions. I also had the fan switch harness dry out and make poor contact (common in hot desert climates), which caused the fan not to get the high speed signal from the fan switch. I would make sure that you can hear and feel changes in the flow of air when you move the fan from low to high setting - my vote is for the fan switch or harness, but I have gone through all of the other suggestions noted above. Just out of curiosity, why would the forum close a thread? The thread that was referred to earlier in this thread with a link is now closed.

I was going to ask in that particular thread if anyone found out what the year range was and what models those blowers are found in. I have an 1989 Chevy Suburban V1500 4x4, the throughput on the blower has diminished incredibly over the last decade, hoping to upgrade from the junkyard, will buy new if I have to. Yes I'm a newbie.

I gave autozone a 94 pickup as the vehicle to get the upgraded motor. It was like $25 brand new. I'd definitely suggest buying it new vs used.

Thanks for the tip man, I'm new to working on trucks, but every time I go into Auto Zone they ask me everything from engine size, wheel size, gas tank size, axle size, penis size, and tonnage. Ok, maybe not wheel size, but the rest applies. Is there anything I need to know to tell them when I go in other than 94 Chevy pickup?

Go to either O'Reilly or Autozone and tell em you want part number "pm129". I for some reason they don't wanna give it to you without looking it up give em a 94 chevy pickup k1500 with a 5.7l v8, and they'll pull up the number I gave you.

also chevy had a bad tendency to not connect the defrosters to the ducting, theres is a good 1/2in gap, reseal with duct tape, BAM! three times better

all you no ac guys know what im talking about.

a 91 huh? why is it so? bigger motor or nasty-er fan?

I know mine isnt blowing out of the vents as hard as it should because the duct housings are not sealed well anymore. They are old and all the foam gaskets are shot and falling out and the housings are kinda warped. They dont fit together snug.
I would take your dash off and check your duct connections and seals.
