Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
Oh yes...its nearly a perfect fit for the ad trucks..an 85 vett is about 59 1/2" wide..check out flatout engineerings crossmembers..I have one going in and there are several more builds both ad and tf going on now on here

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
There are a good number of trucks around running the Flatout Engineering setup. I think there is at least one in the build section with C-4 suspension too.
One thread here with a couple of photos from a couple of years ago. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
I had to go a few pages to find that one. There are a lot of build threads when you start counting and scrolling down though them.

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
There are a few others manufactures of the vett crossmember but I chose the flatout based on reviews I read..there are even some drawings on here where you can build your own copycat from a flatout crossmember..I started to build my own but wanted to make sure I didn't screw up the suspension geometry so I went ahead and splurged..but what I am doing is building me a jig from this crossmember so if me or my buddys want one we can fab up the parts and build one in the jig in the future..I also looked at the Dakota crossmember but trying to chase down all those parts was going to be a hassle..darn scrap prices and cash for clunkers have wiped out all the good junk yards that had all the good older stuff...now all, you can find is less than 10 -15 yr old stuff..

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
One suprising bonus about the vett front end is the weight..just like you see my donor sitting on the sawhorse( hub to hub with rack, spring and everything you see in this pic) it weighs 143lbs..that will change up or down some when I move the components over to the flatout and ad the coilovers. (mines a 88)

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
I'd ask what a C4 weighs versus what a 54 truck weighs before asking about width. Parts are engineered for the stresses of the vehicle.

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
I used the Flat Out front and rear on my 57 3100. I read somewhere (classic trucks, I think) that the C-4 weighs 3200 lbs. About the same as a 6 cylinder version of my truck.

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
I installed one on my 47 a few years ago. At the time the instructions were had written and inaccurate. The front kit is probably worth the money. Build your own rear if you can. It is just a few brackets and a few straight pieces of tube. I had done another brand of Mustang II on a 40 ford I had and it was a much better kit with instructions than the Flat-out kit. Be careful about the wheel base. You will probably want to move the front forward and the rear back. The front moves easily but the rear kit does not move back without redoing the entire setup. At the time I did mine the support was terrible. It took weeks to get a call back to answer questions. I think there are only two guys there.

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
Thanks for the advice on building the rear brackets myself, I just bought this 85 corvette but not sure I want to start parting it out,The crossfire engine and automatic tranny are good so i might use that stuff also? I will keep reading other guy builds and go from there. Thanks again,Mike.

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
DO IT!!! I also built my own rear brackets. Hardest part is figuring out the geometry.

Re: c-4suspension on AD truck?
I was on the way to work yesterday morning and next to the place I have breakfast a lot of mornings was this = (not sure where the two photos are going to go.
Guy had a half a Corvette with what appears to be a complete front suspension and not much more. Next door to Major's hamburgers on 3rd and Washington in Yakima if any0ne headed to Vintiques this weekend is interested. I see cars and parts all over set out in hope of one of those "hot rod guys at Vintiques" has deep pockets.
