Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
Still not too sure about them. Wonder what doing them completely black would look like? Doing them the orange body color would probably be a bit much, but all black might work... thoughts? Anyone else running this style have pics?

Re: Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
I like them when the inside flats are painted black, but the entire wheel? Don't know...I'd have to see them. There was a local stepside truck in the 80's with the flats painted orange to match the truck. I'd agree with you that it was a bit much.

Re: Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
They were always one of my favorite aftermarket wheels.
I paid $200 for a swb 2wd 6 cly.79 bonanza once. And the only thing it needed were tires and a GOOD cleaning. It had mismatched wheels on all 4 corners my uncle had a set of these turbines with no tires on them but they were really nice, he wouldn't come down off $250 for them but I had too have'm for the truck since it was butt ugly the rims would really help it out. Off too pep boys with the rims in the back for cheap new tires. I didn't even get a chance too pull the wheels too check brakes or anything yet. Pep boys installed them and torqued the lugs so tight they stripped a bunch of the lugs and I couldn't get the lugs off all they would do is spin. The kicker was they were slightly different from yours the lugs were inset into the wheel and had about 3/4"-1" shoulder, not conical seats. I called Pep boys back and they wouldn't except responsibility. Ugh! I was so mad.... I never bought tires there again. I ended up paying my uncle too get them off since at the time I had no idea how too get them off and didn't have the tools or the space do so. I wasn't there when he did it but I'm pretty sure he drilled the heads of the lugs and used a air hammer with a pointed bit too break the hex part of the lugs off. I had too put all new studs and lugs on it. Think I was 17 or 18 then. Black with polished fin faces and lip.

Re: Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
I think I agree on the flats being black... I also wonder what (it would be a job) would they look like totally polished flats and all...

Re: Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
That's actually the biggest reason I snagged them at 160 bucks for the set... I cant complain even if they dont work out... They did come off a 71 c10, but it wasn't lowered...

That's a pretty good deal.
Awesome that they are staggered.

Re: Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
How hard are turbine wheels to clean?
I am not a fan of air tools for tire rotations at all. I do my own tire rotations and my long-handled 1/2" ratchet works great for me. |

Re: Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
Don't paint them black, they'll look like Night Rider wheels. How about paint the flats cast grey?
I had a type of turbine wheel on my '72 a while

Re: Turbine Wheels... Who has them?
The '72 shortbed I sold to build the '67 GMC (is build supposed too be a verb?) had turbines painted black. They looked like crap, hated them. I painted them with alumna-blast just so I could look at the truck and be happy. They were too narrow for my taste or I would have stripped and restored properly
