Re: Switch Retaining nut & lock washer?
Leon,
I got your package in mail today. Not to be unappreciative, but you sent the headlight switch retaining nut & washer, not the wiper switch nut. I have a new wiper switch without nut and was looking for a replacement. Old is pretty chewed-up and wanted a second to use with manual choke cable. (Picture was example.) I am willing to pay for them, at least shipment, (have PayPal). My humble apologies for any misunderstanding. R/ Dave |

Brain Fa%t... That's what happens when you get old.. It clearly says wiper in your first post but all the time I was thinking headlight. I will mail out the correct ones in the morning. They will be cheap to mail because I can put them in a regular letter envelope. Thanks for letting me know Dave, sorry about the screwup on my end. LockDoc

Re: Switch Retaining nut & lock washer?
Leon,
I totally understand misunderstanding. Can I help pay for these? I seriously OWE YOU!!! I did try both ACE and BEST Hardware stores local and they do not carry the internal lock washer big enough or jam nut thin enough (9/16). And closest jam nut 1/2 by 20 (fine) thread, I would have to cut in half for thickness. I don't understand why you can buy the switch (from various parts places online, etc...,) but switches do not come with nut and washer, or at least have available to purchase?! I mailed out the wiper switch washer and nut this morning. They will be in a small White letter envelope. It only cost $.46 to mail them.... Just hang onto the light switch stuff and send them to someone else that needs them.... LockDoc

Re: Switch Retaining nut & lock washer?
Gut the wiper motor switch nut & lock washer from you in mail today. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
PS. Where do you recommend getting the correct tool to remove the ignition switch bezel? What I got from Truck Shop is WAY too big. Offset about 1/8 of an inch and their Customer Service said I may have to bend over tool tabs some to fit. Does that make sense? Thank you again Leon - you are a BIG help! |

Re: Switch Retaining nut & lock washer?
I believe you can span the two notches with a pair of needle nose pliers and twist off - at least I think I did that.

No problem. Glad they made it OK. I made a tool for removing the switch bezels out of a piece of thin wall tubing that just fit inside the bezel. I just made cuts in the tubing that matched the notches and bent the little tabs out to fit in them. It works OK if they are not real tight. If the one you bought is too big I don't know how bending anything is going to help.... LockDoc

Re: Switch Retaining nut & lock washer?
Roger that Leon & Ned. I have used needle nose pliers before too. I just thought since there was a "tool" and I was doing all that work with the dash..., I would just get the right "tool" since not too expensive. Didn't quite expect I was buying a "homemade" thing that wouldn't work and then get excuses and money back IF I paid for and shipped it back. A life lesson I guess - Ha.
Thank you again Leon for the nut and washer - makes for a quality install. |
