3 door

How common is a 3 door suburban ? It is a 1970 4x4 with a straight six, I am trying to work a deal with him but am not really sure what it is valued at. He said it ran when parked but has not been started in over a year, body looks decent from what I can tell in the pics, has aftermarket buckets in front and a din radio. The passenger side front has been hit needs grill, bumper, fender and more than likely a support and inner fender. Doesn't appear to be frame damage though just sheet metal. Also it is in black primer. Appears to have a bit of lift and has 35 " tires under it

Re: 3 door

Every suburban from 67-72 is a 3 door.

If it was wrecked where your not sure if there was frame damage, I'd want to visually inspect that thing close. Sounds like a common 4x4 suburban. Options that increase the value of those subs are A/C, Ps, Pb, and your common tilt, tachs, etc...

Good luck and post pics if ya pick it up!!

Re: 3 door

Thanks, this would be my first burb, so I am very unsure what they are valued at.

1970 3 door Chevy Suburban 4X4. RARE FIND! Power steering, new disc brakes, new Dana front and rear end, straight six motor with 3 speed on tree, no frame damage, 6 inch lift kit, 35 inch tires, motor ran when parked, been sitting over a year, double rear doors are in great shape, body has some rust, won't find another project like this! $3000 takes it home serious inquiry only

Re: 3 door

I'm not sure I'd call it common. I don't see the production numbers for that model in the link. I suspect around 2500 half ton units that had 4x4 and barn doors. It looks like that truck has 8 lugs in the front. 4x4 conversion maybe? or just swapped axles?

Those trucks lived a hard life, how many left? I don't know. What's it worth? A lot depends on your location. They seem pretty common in the pacific northwest and rare everywhere else.

This is true, every Washingtonian is issued a burb when they come of driving age haha!

Re: 3 door

That's about the sort of burb I would want: barn doors, 4x4, 6 cylinder, manual shift.

I'd try and get him down because of the damage but $3K isn't too bad I would think. If it isn't rusted badly and I had the place for it, I'd buy that myself.

And because Washington is above Oregon a number of Washington's Burbs have slid down into Oregon. You can look at the Craig's List finds to get an idea on prices versus condition. Good luck
As for rarity I was bored last month and added up 95,500 plus 3 doors on the production list.

Re: 3 door

Too much $$. I believe that you wouldn't have much trouble to find something else in that price range running and driving. Did you see the post a couple lines up with the 1970 4x4 for $4500 ? Its money well spent in my book. I don't believe with another $1500 in the truck that you are considering would yet compare to the $ 4500 truck , plus the work is done.
