When I could done like my friend, and been LOOOW and looked TIGHT...
My friend heated his coils and made a flip kit piece, and it's a LOT lower than my truck, and looks 10x better!

I KNOW heating the coils is the WORST possible way to lower a truck, but lemme tell ya...it rides literally 10x better than my truck!

HOPEFULLY, after I replace my cab mounts, my truck will ride SMOOOOTH...if it doesn't, I'm gonna cut my damn coils!
My friend said all he did was put a 2x4 under each A-arm, so that the A-arms would be 2" above the ground, and heated his coils till the A-arms went down to the blocks...then he was done.

Damnit!
Of course, he also has a 245/45 17 up front (17x8 Torq Thrust II wheels) with 255/55 17's out back...so his truck has a pretty mean damn rake...which I don't like all that much...he ASWELL doesn't have Long tube headers...
Sorry guys, just venting...hopefully cab mounts will do the trick...

Heated coils are a dangerous way of lowering imo. Here's what the 4 year old heated springs looked like when I pulled them to do the bags on the 83.

Those springs will eventually sag more and now he's also changed the rate of the coil.

that spring was only heated in one spot... should have done it in a couple spots at least

you know why you spent so much on lowering parts? because you're not retarded. if you cut your coils to get a smoother ride, you're really gonna be pissed, because it'll ride like an old log truck. i test drove a truck with chopped coils once, and no swaybar. i felt EVERY bump i hit. you say your friends truck with heated coils rides better than yours? challenge him to a little test of handling. his truck may ride 10x better, but i bet yours handles 20x better than his.

That's EXACTLY how my truck rides NOW. I don't have sway bars...my friend MIIIGHT have sway bars on his truck
BTW: He wouldn't race around corners against me...he has a spool.

Truthfully I didn't care since I bought it like that and had no clue until I pulled the coils.

I'll get a picture of my friends truck next to mine. I also have another friend (who I'm getting fenders from.) who's bagged in the front with a homemade flip kit and homemade shackles out back. I'll get a picture of all three of our trucks together and you can see the differences...
