Cab mounts
I placed my bed on tonight. My cab needs to go up 1/2" for the body lines to match up. I have new rubber mounts. The bracket has not been replaced. It is in good shape. I do not have them tightened down too much, so they are not squeezed, probably needs to be tighter. Any thoughts??

Re: Cab mounts
Like a fat girl doing the mambo, my '72's cab also squatted with original cab rubber bushings, see pic.
I bought a kit of cab bushings, polyeurathane type, and they brought the cab back in line with the bed using original frame mounts. It was fairly easy to add an extra washer or two to help space any differences you end up with, if your bolts aren't too far gone. |

Re: Cab mounts
If memory serves me I think the front and rear rubbers are different heights. Possibly in the wrong location?

Re: Cab mounts
Steel bed floors sit right on the frame mounts. Wood bed floors have cushions. So as long as you're not doing something wrong there then you'll need to shim the cab up. Double check to make sure you have the mounts in the right spots like mentioned.

This is a nasty game. I spent a lot of time making mine match as well. I even contemplated cutting the bed mounts. Once the truck was mocked up, I made locating tools to precisely position everything back once I took it apart for paint.

Re: Cab mounts
Loosen all cab mounts. Starting with the rear of the cab, shim to where you want it then move to the front of cab, shim, then to core support.
Don't be surprised if you have to use more shims on one mount than the other to get doors and fenders to align. It can be a frustrating exercise,
