3/4 ton truck?

so my truck is only a half ton, but i seen a whole 3/4 ton frame, that needs just a cab, motor, and possibly a bed and is 2wd, how hard is it to throw a newer 3/4 ton front axel under these, so i can have 4x4 and a beefier truck? thinking about buying this, because its cheap.

Is the 2 wheel frame a coil spring or leaf spring rear end?

Why not just swap your sheet metal into the k20 chassis? Unless it's resto, frame vin not "critical" - it's then metal tag on the cab that matters most. That would be simpler than stuffing 3/4 running gear under 1/2 ton frame. Only major mod would be to add a high hump tunnel.

thats what i plan to do, im talking about making a 2wd 3/4 ton ton frame into a 4x4, if i get the frame. then swapping sheet metal.

I'm going to text the guy when he's on lunch, probably going to swap my motor/tranny/tcase/ whatever sheet metal that's needed if this truck has a bed, unless uts a swb and the bed on mine will fit. then hit it with primer and rust repair. and I'm only 15 fyi.

okay so the truck is independent front suspension, so how hard is it to leaf it?

If you already have a K10 and are wanting a K20, it's a LOT of work to make a C20 frame into a K20 frame.

The primary differences between a K10 and a K20 are the axles and the springs.

The front Dana 44 axle can be changed to/from a 1/2 ton to a 3/4 ton (or vice-versa) by changing all the spindles, wheel bearings, and brakes. The actual housing and the axles themselves are the same. There may be some differences in this with the years.
I used a 1975 3/4T front axle and swapped parts from my 1/2T axles to keep all my wheels the same. Some of the axles in the 67-72 range varied from year to year and brakes type to brakes type.


The rear axle can be swapped with a 3/4 ton axle from a 2WD or a 4WD 3/4 ton and should bolt up on the same pads. Just make sure to get your gear ratios correct and the same from front to rear.

It is WAY more work to make the 2WD frame a 4WD and then move your sheet metal than to just change you current axles to 3/4T.

probably gunna just use this truck to fix the half ton, and sell the remaining stuff, and lower the truck back to stock height, really hating the lift.
